Woodland Faerie Trail

Even though the temperatures were high and the heat was hot, I decided to head out to get some photos of the Woodland Faerie Trail at Zilker Botanical Garden before the exhibit was gone this year (2018).  It’s only for a limited time each summer.

First off, what is Zilker Botanical Garden?

The Zilker Botanical Garden is a botanical garden of varied topography located on the south bank of the Colorado River at 2220 Barton Springs Road, near downtown Austin, Texas, United States. The Botanical Garden was established as a non-profit organization in 1955, and is the centerpiece of Zilker Park.” website: http://www.zilkergarden.org/

Each summer they sponsor a faerie garden where families, groups of friends, and organizations sign up for a 4 foot by 4 foot piece of the garden in a designated area to build their faerie land.

Entering the gardens, I got some shots of the beautiful pond out front. The water lilies were in bloom.

As you head to the faerie exhibit, you'll pass a pioneer village with an old school, blacksmith shop, and Swedish pioneer cabin that date back to the 1800's.

I also spotted some unique metal chairs that are usable artwork. I decided not to try them out with the sun being so hot. Metals and heat don't mix.

Now on to the Woodland Faerie Trail for 2018.

If you live in Austin or are visiting Austin, Texas, make sure to take a stroll through the Zilker Botanical Garden
